Dogsthorpe Academy

The Academy Day

All pupils should attend school each day at the compulsory times of 8.45am to 3.15pm.

This amounts to a total of 32 hours and 30 minutes per week.

Other information:

The gates to the playground open at 8.30am. Parents have responsibility for children until 8.35am.

Access to the playground is via the pedestrian walkways at the side of the Academy and Infant School. Gates to the Academy car parks are locked at 8.30am and 3.00pm to ensure that cars are not moving on the site while children and families are entering and leaving.

Doors are open between 8.35 - 8.45 am for pupils to enter the academy. The school day starts at 8.45. Anyone arriving after 8.45 should enter by the main front entrance.

Children and adults arriving by bicycle or scooter must walk as soon as they enter the Academy site to ensure safety of all others. There is a lot of space in the cycle shelter for bicycles to be stored safely and securely. Children should make sure they have locked a bicycle to a stand; our bicycle shelter is locked at 9.00am each day. Pupils may not ride their bikes/scooters around the playground.

Please note: Parking outside the Academy is extremely difficult and we work very closely with the police and PCSOs to ensure that traffic regulations are enforced. Please do not bring dogs on to the  site.

The Academy day ends at 3.15pm. Families should collect their children promptly from the playground. If you would like your child to walk home without being collected please give your permission on this form click here
